Shaleen Bhanot finds it an honour to play a legendary character.
Shaleen Bhanot will soon enchant the audience in the royal avatar of Mahaan Singh in Life OK’s upcoming historical,’Sher-E-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh’. He will be seen playing the father of the lead character Ranjit Singh (Damanpreet Singh).
In conversation with Tellybuzz, Shaleen shed some light about his character in the show.
Shaleen, you look handsome and royal in your new look. Tell us more about it.
Yes, I am back on television and this time in a different avatar. More than anything, I find it an honour to portray such a legendary character and inspire the audience through his ideology.
Is there any pressure of portraying such a legendary character like Maharaja Mahaan Singh?
As I mentioned earlier, I am fortunate to have got this opportunity. Essaying historical characters is not easy. I am glad that the producers and the channel trust me that I will be able to justify the character. Three months ago I played Duryodhan in Suryaputra Karn and now I will play Mahaan Singh. It is a good transition for me.
Was playing Mahaan Singh a conscious decision?
Frankly speaking, the first thing that came to my mind when I was offered this role was that why should I play a father’s role? But when I met the creative team, they convinced me that Mahaan Singh was a powerful and dynamic character. Since I love working hard and taking up challenges, I took up the role.
