MTV Coke Studio season 4 will open with Amit Trivedi’s amazing rendition Teriyaan Tu Jaane that has Harshdeep Kaur and one of the Noora sisters performing in full throttle.
While the studio performance will certainly give you the thrills, we are doubly sure that you will be blown to bits by the music video that MTV has shot with danseuse Mukti Mohan. And the first B-town celeb to reach out to Mukti and congratulate her was Alia Bhatt who was a special guest along with her special friend Sidharth Malhotra at the special screening of the video.
Shares Mukti, “Alia loved the video and my performance and I was told that after watching my video, she said, ‘I want to be that girl.’ I met her later and she said she loved my dance in the video.”
Mukti is seen performing an array of synchronized fast paced dance moves while the soulful Teriyaan Tu Jaane plays in the background. From dancing on the streets of Mumbai to grooving amidst the busy workers of Dhobi Talao, the video makes for a delightful visual spectacle. However, what moves the audience is the final revelation that Mukti’s character is deaf and dumb.
Elaborating on how the dance moves were choreographed keeping in mind the disability of the character, Mukti says, “The brief given to me by my director Nishanth was to be free spirited and dance with a lot of vigour. I learnt the sign language from a deaf person who used to be on our sets. I never practised the moves. I used to reach on sets and we used to get started.”
For Mukti, shooting in Dhobi Talao was one of the most refreshing experiences. “The staff there were busy doing their daily work while we shot with them forming the formidable background. The contrast of me dancing and them busy in their work will be catchy.”
On the movie front, Mukti has managed to clinch a lead role in a love story but she remains tightlipped preferring not to let the cat out of the bag. “I will be able to spill the beans only in March.”
Well, we are sure we will be treated to some of Mukti’s suave dance movies in her Bollywood venture as well.
