The show stars Ishmeet Kohli, Rajendra Gupta, Sushmita Mukherjee, Chitra Banerjee, Naman Arora, Subir Rana, Priyamvada Sahay, Sahil Phull among others.
Akshay Verma is playing a pivotal role in the show.
TellyChakkar got in an exclusive chat with Akshay who spoke in length about his character and much more.
What kind of role are you portraying in the show? Shed some light on your character. How relatable is your character to you in real life?
I am playing the lead actress Poorvi’s father Mahendra Singh. I am not able to relate to my character more as he is an extremely conservative man and wants his daughter to be at home. I have a daughter and in real life, I believe in freedom. I have restricted her in many things but I’m not that conservative.
Tell us about your experience so far working with the show’s star cast
My experience with the co-stars is superb. I have seen Rajendra Gupta and Sushmita ji in my childhood on television. When I met them during the look test, my first reaction to Sushmita ji was, “Oh, Sweety” and she laughed. I requested her to say this line and she acknowledged my request. The lead girl Ishmeet is really good and very humble. The actor who plays the character of Kashi is also very good. I have so far only performed scenes with them and they all are good.
Any interesting story behind bagging this show?
The interesting fact about bagging this show is that all the auditions are happening from home due to the pandemic. We keep giving auditions. So, the makers called me and they explained to me about the character and asked me to make an audition video and send it to them. I quickly sent it to them and they called me in two days telling me that I was locked for the role. But there was no call from the production house which an actor usually gets after getting locked for the role. However, everything was done beforehand. I just had to go and sign the contract.
Dosti Anokhi is all set to hit the small screens from 7th February onwards.
