“I still can’t believe that Pratyusha is not with us.” He said
Actor Shashank Vyas is going places with his convincing portrayal of Ravish Vashist in Yash Patnaik’s Jaana Na Dil Se Door (Star Plus).
The handsome actor who hails from Ujjain came to limelight when he started playing Jagdish in ‘Balika Vadhu’ (Colors) and it is on this show that he met Pratyusha Banerjee for the first time.
As today, April 1 marks the first death anniversary of the actress, Shashank reminisces about the time he spent with her.
Shashank said, “A thing which is done for the first time in life always holds a special place in one’s heart. Be it your first car, your first show or…your first heroine. Pratyusha was a very dear friend of mine. It may sound cliched but I still can’t believe that Pratyusha is not with us.”
Shashank also shared that how the two waited at for each other at the railway station and traveled together on the sets of Balika Vadhu.
He averred,”We had a great bonding, we were like buddies. I used to reach Naigaon railway station from Santacruz and wait for her to come from Andheri. We used to travel together. One thing I was very jealous of was Pratyusha’s memory, which was razor sharp. Unlike her, I used to take me a long time to memorize my lines.
Shashank also shared that they used to have creative differences for a better output.
“When we both started with ‘Balika Vadhu’ we wanted to prove our talent to the industry. Our focus was only work. I have seen her growth. She used to share her personal problems with me. Off the camera we used to have a lot of discussion about life and our work,” He added.
Watching a young and talented face give up her life is heart-wrenching.
Bidding us adieu, Shashank gave all the aspirants a piece of advise.
He suggested,”All actors on television are artists. They are not legends or stars. When you are not doing a show you are no one. To become an artist one should have purity in his/her heart. I enjoy my success and fame but I have never taken it seriously.
A reality check is very important for an actor. I wish Pratyusha was alive. People should learn a lesson from her life and find a balance in whatever they do.”
Well said Shashank.
