Ridhi Dogra has not been seen in a full-fledged role on TV for a while now. The actress last played the role of Sweety in Qayamat Ki Raat. The OTT space is keeping her busy right now.
“I am an actor and whatever platform gives me the place to perform, I will go there. Even in the past, I have done theatre and worked as a dancer before I started acting. I feel that I am a creative person and to present that creativity, whichever medium gives me the space, I will never let go of it. A creative person always wants to do newer things. Web is a great space not only for me but even for writers and directors,” she says.
Has she bid adieu to the TV industry? “I would be foolish and extremely stupid to say good bye to the TV industry. The one place which gave me so much. It’s more a situation where I am trying to see what more I can do, it happens to everybody. Actors start off doing certain work and then they want to do better. I won’t say bye to TV but I also don’t want to do the stuff which I have done before,” adds Ridhi.
She doesn’t watch television at all. She says, “Even when I used to shoot for shows I never watched them. I don’t know if the content shown on television is repetitive, but I do know that its caters to a particular audience. TV is governed by the rating system and the makers have to consider that because at the end of the day, it’s thriving on advertisers’ money. So one needs to understand that perhaps that’s the reason why TV has repetitive content. Maybe that is what families or people like to watch.”
